AI optimization tools for content marketers
Updated November 3, 2026
Short answer: Content marketers need three things: a tracker that shows which buyer questions AI answers without you and which sites it cites instead, an SEO tool for the keywords behind those questions, and a writing workflow that answers each question plainly on its own page. Start with the tracker: it tells you what to write.
The three kinds of tools
- AI visibility trackers (for example ChatKeywords, Otterly.AI, Profound and Peec AI) ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI the questions your buyers ask and show who gets named and cited.
- SEO suites (for example Semrush and Ahrefs) show the keywords and pages behind those questions, and now add AI tracking too.
- Content tools help you plan and write the pages. Any of them work if the page answers the question in its first paragraph.
A weekly workflow that works
- Track 20 to 50 buyer questions every week (ChatKeywords writes them from your site).
- Open the questions you lose and the sites cited instead (“Fix the gaps”).
- Write one page per group of questions with the same intent: price, alternatives, how-to.
- Get listed on the “best tools” lists AI already cites for those questions.
- Mark each one done and watch the same questions over the next 6 weeks.
What a page that gets cited looks like
- The answer in the first 2 or 3 sentences, in plain words.
- Facts AI can quote: prices, limits, who it is for, dated.
- A comparison table when buyers compare options.
- Readable by AI crawlers: check with the AI crawler checker.
